Football star Hines Ward invites 8 kids to the U.S.

Korean-American football player Hines Ward has invited eight multicultural children living in Korea to the United States for a week-long experience.

The Pearl S. Buck International, a non-profit organization aiming to provide assistance and opportunities to children worldwide, said the selected children will take off today to join Ward, the Pittsburgh Steelers' wide receiver and 2006 U.S. Super Bowl Most Valuable Player.

After watching a game between the Steelers and Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, the children will enjoy dinner with Ward and have a glimpse of American culture by staying with host families who have either adopted or are in the process of adopting a Korean child through the organization's adoption program.

The event has been organized by Ward and the foundation for three consecutive years since 2006.

Born in Korea to a Korean mother and black U.S. serviceman, Ward visited his homeland for the first time in April of 2006.

After taking part in a reception hosted by the group and attended by 100 biracial children, Ward decided to team-up with PSBI to raise awareness on the status of biracial children.
